Contract Manufacturing
At Just Electronics we generally specialise in small-to-medium batch sizes, but are happy to handle any quantity - from large runs to one-
off prototypes. This list gives an idea of the contract manufacturing services we offer, but is by no means exhaustive!
PCB Assembly
•
Conventional (through-hole): All boards are loaded by hand, and can be hand or machine soldered depending on quantity.
•
SMD (surface mount): We pride ourselves on being very adaptable, depending on customer requirements. We have a small
SMD placement machine which can be used for any batch size, and is normally used for repeat orders. If we have a paste screen,
all batch sizes can be pasted and then either hand-placed or machine-placed, and soldered in our reflow oven. If there is no
screen, for example on prototypes, we can hand-place and hand-solder SMD components down to 0402 size on small batches.
Cable and Wiring Assembly
•
We can build wiring looms and cable assemblies of most sizes, as stand-alone items, or to be used in products that we are
manufacturing. We have a cable-cutting machine for larger runs, or can hand-build for small batches.
Mechanical/Electro-mechanical Assembly
Box Build/Final Assembly
•
We fit many of the sub-assemblies (PCB assemblies, cables, etc.) that we build into enclosures or other assemblies, to be tested
as part of a larger product. We assemble metalwork parts, plastic enclosures, precision laboratory equipment, and pack the
completed and tested final assembly into shipping cartons ready to be dispatched directly to customers. We also perform final
assembly using electronic components and boards manufactured elsewhere, and not just ones we have made ourselves. This is a
very varied area, so please get in touch so we can discuss your needs.
Inspection
•
Every item we manufacture is subjected to inspection before delivery. We can also inspect items made elsewhere. If you have
specific criteria for the inspection of your products, please let us know so we can ensure full compliance with your requirements.
Test
•
Where possible, we prefer to test products for an added level of confidence. If you already have a test procedure or test set, we
will follow your process. If you would like assistance in designing a test method, please ask as we have experience in this area.
Packaging/Distribution
•
Normally we ship the products we have built back to you as the customer, but if you would prefer us to send the directly to your
end-customer, we can use our own couriers or your preferred shipping company.
Process
In order for us to provide a you with a Quotation, please send us as much information as you can: parts lists, drawings, gerber files,
manufacturing instructions, inspection criteria, test procedures, etc. We have Non-Disclosure Agreements in place with our suppliers, and
willingly sign them with customers, to ensure that your information is safe.
We will then obtain prices for any parts we need to purchase, and advise you of the labour costs involved. For first-time jobs, the
quotation will obviously be supplied in good faith, but should anything come to light during manufacture that was not clear from the
documentation provided, we may need to discuss things with you.
For procure-and-manufacture jobs, our standard turn-round time is 20 working days, to allow for PCBs and parts to be ordered at sensible
prices. For jobs with free-issue parts, the more notice you can give us, the better we can schedule the workshop to accommodate all our
customers. If we are fortunate enough to win the job, upon receipt of your Purchase Order we will check the delivery times on parts and
boards, and advise you of our estimated delivery date, just in case parts have become unobtainable, or public holidays will affect things.
